Profile

Mrs Lilian Nkechi Esiagu (LSM), hails from Ihuogo Amangballa in Afikpo North L.G.A of Ebonyi State (in the then Imo State). Born into the family of Chief, Sir P.B.O Otuu (KSM) of blessed memory. Her educational background dates back to 1980 when she started her Primary Education at Township School Umuelemai Mbano Headquarters. Following the transfer of her parents back to Afikpo, she was enrolled at Unwana Community Primary School where she obtained her First School Leaving Certificate in 1986.  


 She proceeded to Comprehensive Secondary School Unwana where she obtained her Junior School Certificate in 1989. The same year she proceeded to Holy Child Secondary School Afikpo for her Senior Secondary (SS1) and later to Macgreggor Secondary School in 1991 where she sat and obtained her Senior School Certificate (SSC) in 1992.  In 1993, she gained admission into Abia State University Uturu, and graduated in 1998 with a Bachelors of Science Degree in Government & Public Administration due to the recurrent ASUU strike then in Nigeria Universities. 

    

She was mobilized for the mandatory National Youths Service Corps (NYSC) in March 1999 and did her primary assignment at State Primary Education Board (SPEB) Lokoja, Kogi State. 


Upon completion of the NYSC scheme  which was  flavoured  with an award of the Most Discipliner Corps Member and a Commendation Award State by the 1st Executive Governor of Kogi State, His Excellency Abubakar Audu  in February 2000.  

In June 2000, Mrs. Lilian Esiagu was employed by the Ebonyi State Secondary Education Board, Headquarters Abakaliki as Administrative Officer II. Due to her love for teaching, she was offered an appointment as a part time lecturer with the Enugu State University of Science and Technology (Abakaliki Outreach Centre) in 2004. 


In November 2005, she left the Secondary Education Board Abakaliki, and joined the services of Akanu Ibiam Federal Polytechnic Unwana as Administrative Officer I in Exams and Records Division and later to the Academic Planning and Quality Assurance Unit.  In April 2008, she left Akanu Ibiam Federal Polytechnic Unwana for Federal Polytechnic Nekede as a teaching staff. And based on her publications and wealth of experience she was appointed as Lecturer 1. 


Mrs. Esiagu has served in various capacities at the Federal Polytechnic Nekede. Upon arrival at Nekede, she was appointed the Coordinator (Public Administration) for the Weekend Progamme Directorate from 2009 to 2015.  She has also served as a member of various important Committees such as Convocation Committees for the 16th, 17th, 18th, and 19th Convocation Ceremonies in 2011, 2013, 2016 and 2017.   Member, Welfare Committee of School of Business & Management Technology (SBMT) 2009-2013, Member, SBMT Journal Publication Committee 2013-2015, Secretary, Public Administration Project Committee 2009-2015, Chairman, Departmental Carnival Committee 2016, Secretary Public Administration Course Enrichment/ Substitution Committee 2018. She was the Head of Department of Public Administration, Federal Polytechnic Nekede Owerri, 2019-2020. And in 2021, she was elected Dean, School of Business and Management Technology, Federal Polytechnic Nekede, Owerri, Imo State.

She has eight (8) books to her credit which includes;

Thirty two (32) publications comprising chapter contributions and journal articles published in learned journals of both national and international repute. She has equally participated in many academic conferences, workshops and seminars.


She has Masters Degrees both in Public Administration and International Relations from the University of Nigeria Nsukka and the Ebonyi State University Abakaliki respectively. 

Mrs. Esiagu is a Ph.D Research Scholar at Ebonyi State University Abakaliki.  She belongs to many Professional bodies such as the Chartered Institute of Public Administration, Institute of Corporate Administration of Nigeria, Public Administration Society of Nigeria and Fellow, Chartered Institute of Public Administration and Local Government. She is also a member of the Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria.  She is a Member, Women in Management and Leadership Association (WIMA) and Member, Women in Technical Education and Employment (WITED). 

 Mrs. Lilian Esiagu is a Lady of St. Mulumba Nigeria and happily married with children   to Sir Ugochukwu E. Esiagu from Umuoma Nzerem in Ehime Mbano Local Government Area of Imo state.
