RECTOR SCORES SGS HIGH AT THE JUST CONCLUDED INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON SECURITY
In line with his knack for appreciating excellence, the Rector of Federal Polytechnic Nekede, Engr. Dr. M.C. Arimanwa FNSE, JP, has applauded the School of General Studies (SGS) for organizing an international conference which he identified as the first of its kind.
He further commended the Dean, Dr. Anayo Uhiara, for spearheading such a timely conference themed “Rising Causes of Insecurity: The African Experience,” adding that the event had become necessary to articulate ideas that would end the endemic incidences of insecurity on the continent of Africa in general and Nigeria in particular.
The polytechnic chief known for his inspiring and pace-setting leadership also lauded the initiative of the School of General Studies aimed at establishing a smart classroom equipped with state-of-the-art facilities for digital learning. He identified the move as in line with his smart campus initiative, promising the input of Management to that effect.
The smart Rector also gave SGS a thumbs-up for playing a leading role in completing the digital staff appraisal form shared to all staff of the polytechnic. The poly helmsman noted that the SGS in this regard went ahead of the science and technology-inclined schools to accomplish the appraisal task in record time, urging others to emulate the feat.
In the words of the Rector, “School of General Studies has done very well, and I believe others can emulate them by organizing international conferences and webinars; as well as carry out initiatives that reinforce the smart campus initiative of our administration.”
Meanwhile, the Rector has tasked the Dean of SGS to ensure that all conference papers that were accepted for publication go through the anti-plagiarism test of the institution. In his words, “Make sure you do not publish anything that did not go through the anti-plagiarism test of our institution, since you now bear the responsibility of all accepted papers.”
