The Rector of Federal Polytechnic Nekede has lauded care-givers at motherless babies’ homes for their courage and steadfastness in giving care to motherless and helpless children.
The Rector made this observation while on a pre-Third Anniversary tour of motherless babies at Ancilla Motherless Babies Home, Emekuku.
The Rector was accompanied to the visit by the principal officers of the school and select members of staff.
Speaking further, the Rector charged workers at the home to remain resolute in their call as they made necessary sacrifices to assist the indigent in their care.
Responding, the proprietor of the home, Rev Sis Franca Opara appreciated the Poly boss and his team for the wonderful gifts of food and money they brought, enthusing that such gifts made them glow with excitement.
Sis. Opara thereafter gave the august visitors a brief history of the home, recalling how the home had become a life-saver for many families whose children would have been abandoned due to factors ranging from stigma, carelessness to poverty.
While acknowledging the daunting nature of their job, the proprietor however pointed out that the visit was a morale booster to her and other workers at the orphanage.
The need to show love to the needy and less-privileged has been stressed.
Speaking at a visit to Save the Child Motherless/Abandoned Babies Home World Bank Housing Estate recently, the Rector of Federal Polytechnic Nekede, Engr Dr Michael Arimanwa observed that the society needed to show love to the motherless, the indigent and less-privileged from time to time.
According to the cleric and polytechnic boss, the less-privileged children are also children of God who would someday be divinely positioned in life.
The Rector and his team were received by the proprietor of the home, Sir Herbert Mela, who expressed immense joy and gratitude for the visit of the Rector just as he lauded his courage and thoughtfulness.
The Rector also used the occasion to present gifts ranging from essential items to food and cash to the orphanage, exhorting the workers to keep up the good job they were doing.
Thereafter, the children sang songs of praise to God and prayed for the Rector.
It will be recalled that the visit to the orphanage was part of the activities lined up for the Rector’s epic Third Anniversary stay in office.
