COMMUNICATION OF MANAGEMENT DECISION
STRENGTHENING OF RULES AND POLICIES ON THE CONDUCT OF ACADEMIC ACTIVITIES INSIDE OFFICES AND-OTHER-UNAUTHORIZED VENUES/PLACES
Management at its 46th meeting (Emergency) held on Thursday, 27th July, 2023 deliberated on the importance of strengthening the rules and policies on the above matter vis-à-vis the recent events in the Institution.
It noted with great displeasure the flagrant disobedience to its earlier circular and advocacy at various times and fora banning the conduct of any'form of academic activity inside offices and other unauthorized venues/places except inside classrooms and laboratories. Observably, some Lecturers have continued to go contrary to these rules and policies with impunity and disregard to its consequences. Consequently, Management wishes to reiterate with every sense of solemnity and responsibility that it will no longer tolerate this conscious and brazen level of indiscipline and disobedience as it will henceforth wield the sledgehammer on any offender no matter how highly placed. Management after its extensive deliberation on the issue directed as stated hereunder:
(1) That no Lecturer is authorized to organize any form of lecture, defense, seminar, give or collect assignment inside his/her office or any other unauthorized venue/place.
(2) That all lectures, defense, seminars, administration or submission of any assignment including term papers or any other academic work MUST be carried out in the classrooms ONLY.
(3) That no Lecturer is authorized to ask students to come individually or collectively to his/her office to defend, take or submit assignments, projects, term papers, seminars or any other academic activity.
(4) All the above stated academic activities MUST be carried out in the classrooms and in the presence of majority of the class members.
(5) That any Lecturer who contravenes the above stated rules will be strictly dealt with in accordance with the extant rules and regulations of the Institution
