When it is said that Federal Polytechnic Nekede leads and others aspire to catch up if they can, it is not just a mere slang, but based on their consistent zeal and determination to break new grounds and do things differently.
Safety of our homes, working environment, business outlets etc, is so paramount that no effort or investment in securing them is a waste. Publius Comelius-Tacitus once observed that, "The desire for safety stands against every great and noble enterprise."
Recently, the Rector of Federal Polytechnic Nekede, Engr. Dr. Michael Chidiebere Arimanwa (FNSE, FOSHA, FCIA, FFS, HCIB), inaugurated for the first time, a Safety and Emergency Unit of the institution, for quick emergency response services.
At the occasion, the Rector, in the company of Members of Management and the director of the unit *Engr M.U Anyaehie, commissioned all modern fire fighting equipment s needed to enhance the operations of the unit including two fire-fighting vehicles, a water tanker and a pressure vehicle.
While promising a specialized training (including medicals on how to give first aid to a dying patient) for members of the unit, to enhance and improve on their readiness for emergency response, the Rector emphasized on their dress code to reflect on their profession.
In appreciation, Engr. Anyaehie, speaking on behalf of other members of his team, said arrangements have been concluded for safety awareness in all the nooks and crannies of the academic community.
