Registrar of the Federal Polytechnic Nekede, Mrs Eucharia Anuna, has tasked the staff of the institution on ethical conduct. The Poly scribe gave this charge at the recently concluded Women’s Week of the institution organized under the aegis of Federal Polytechnic Nekede, Owerri Women Association (FEPNOWA).
In a lecture entitled “Work and Ethics”, the Registrar affirmed that the success of any organization is tied to the ethical conduct of its staff. According to her, where a workforce does not honour its rules of engagements, the organization involved would be adversely affected. She took a swipe at some members of staff who did not take their work seriously. Accordingly, she reiterated the zero-tolerance of the polytechnic to any act of misconduct, ranging from dereliction of duty, lousiness, refusal to accept posting, refusal to sign attendance register, non-compliance to schedule of duty, lateness to bribery, among others.
The Registrar, therefore, seized the opportunity to read the riot act to erring staff, avowing that the polytechnic would not condone any act of indiscipline. In the end, the Registrar charged the polytechnic women to strive to be models of excellence so that the society could take a cue from them.
