Rector of Federal Polytechnic Nekede, Engr Dr Michael Arimanwa FNSE has reiterated the resolve of his administration to excel in all endeavours. According to the poly chief, “We are committed to excellence, hence we are not ready to do anything that will undermine our status as the best performing polytechnic in Nigeria.”
The Rector made this remark earlier today at the Practical Defence session of the HND finalists of the Department of Hospitality Management Technology, an event which had a set of observers, external examiners and scholars from sister institutions. Apparently impressed with the organization of the event, the Rector commended the department for exhibiting commitment towards its mandate.
The poly supremo charged the students to strive to be the best as they graduate to practice what they have studied, positing that they should work hard to be policymakers in the wider world.
Meanwhile, the Rector has expressed commitment to the request to unbundle Hospitality Management Technology. With the development, there may soon be a new programme to be named Tourism and Leisure Management. Responding to this request, the Rector declared that he is ready to lend all necessary support to the realization of the dream, expressing readiness to support any development that would improve the lot of any department in the polytechnic, recalling that nine new programmes were already on stream owing to the determination of his administration.
A ceremonial cake was presented to the Rector and his team, offering a prime opportunity for the poly helmsman to pour priestly blessings on the graduating students. In his vote of thanks, the Dean of the School of Industrial and Applied Sciences, Mr Basil Orie described the Rector as a great leader who is “effective and efficient” in taking the polytechnic to greater heights. Those on the entourage of the Rector were the two Deputy Rectors, Dr Chris Onyemenonu (Academic) and Dr Uzoma Ibeaja, the bursar, Mr Venatius Anyanwuocha, Dr Charles Obichere and some council members.
