EXCITEMENT GALORE AS RECTOR ARIMANWA OPENS NEW REGISTRY ANNEX
It was an excitement galore last Friday as the smart Rector of the Federal Polytechnic Nekede, Engr. Dr. Michael C. Ariamanwa, opened the new Registry Annex of the institution. The new edifice which is tastefully furnished is a TETFund project executed to enhance the operation of the Registry.
Speaking at the joyous occasion, the Rector described the project as a dream come true. He pointed out that the project was conceptualized to solve a pressing need for accommodation in the Registry. He recalled how staff of the Registry in the Archives section had to recourse to the old administrative building to dig up files, despite the associated hazards. With the new building, the Rector was optimistic that the division would achieve a seamless operation, noting that records would now safely be in one place.
Furthermore, the poly chief disclosed that plans were already on ground to achieve full digitization of records in the Registry so that “no one would need to be pushing through files again.” He thanked the Tertiary Education Trust Fund for funding the project.
He also appreciated the consulting and contracting firms for doing a great job and abiding by the specifications of the contract. Lastly, he expressed gratitude to the physical and Planning Unit of the polytechnic for a thorough conceptualization and supervision.
In her remarks, meanwhile, the Registrar Mrs E.C. Anuna who was visibly excited, thanked the Rector for his exceptional commitment to service delivery. She recalled how the project became a pressing need for staff of the Registry Division, prompting her to inundate the Rector with the issue.
She also thanked the Acting Director of Physical and Planning Unit, Arc. Ikenna Opara. The high point of the ceremony was the official handover of the facility to the Rector by the technical director of the contracting firm, K & G Integrated Service Ltd. Thereafter, the Rector handed over the keys of the facility to the Acting Director of Works, Engr. Chijioke Okoro.
Other Principal Officers present at the occasion included the Deputy Rector (Academic) Mr. C.C. Onyemenonu, Deputy Rector (Administration) Dr. Friday Ibeaja, Bursar, V.N. Anyanwuocha and Polytechnic Librarian, Dr. Charles Obichere.
