Following the epic invention of the first truly indigenous electric car in Nigeria by the Federal Polytechnic Nekede, the Rector of the institution Engr Dr Michael Arimanwa FNSE has revealed that the school is set to unveil more technological inventions in the coming months. This disclosure was made at a programme entitled News Maker on IBC Orient FM today and monitored by FEDPONEK GAZETTE.
The Rector also disclosed that the electric vehicle was a product of a vigorous research drive in the institution which was aided by the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund). It will be recalled that the polytechnic under Dr Arimanwa has always asserted itself in the area of research and innovation owing to the premium attention the Rector has paid to pedagogical excellence in the institution. It is also worthy of note that the Rector has never relented in sounding out the imperatives of research development to staff, a reason he has invested handsomely on personnel development.
The Rector also pointed out that the invention of an electric car is only one out of the myriad of high-impact researches ongoing in the polytechnic, insisting that the world would soon witness more scientific innovations coming from the institution.
The Rector further disclosed that the products of these researches would launch the institution to greater heights in line with his vision of giving the polytechnic the a trans-continental visibility.
In respect of the electric car, the Rector revealed to the world that the polytechnic had been recently inundated with calls and media visitations, geared towards showcasing the technological masterpiece to the world, stating that the institution would remain true to its call as a foremost institution of higher learning in Nigeria.
Meanwhile, callers expressed appreciation to the poly Chief Executive for the wonderful strides made in the area of infrastructure and research since he assumed office, stating that they were unprecedented. They also urged him to seek ways of mass-producing the electric car which his institution has just invented.
A caller, Emeka Ukanwa, who called in from Owerri, lauded the Rector for the massive infrastructural development he has brought in the polytechnic, urging him to sustain the tempo.
