  1. BRIEF HISTORY OF THE DEPARTMENT

This ********** is one of the core departments that started *** college ** technology in 1979 as it was **** called. ESV Dr OGBUEFI JOSEPH UGOCHUKWU, now a professor of estate management and a fellow to the Nigerian institution of ****** surveyors and valuers started the ********** with a total of 19 students and graduated 17 of them (2 ******* and 15 males). Ever since its inception, the department has grown from strength to strength *** is today regarded as a department of choice ** the institution. The department of Estate Management has the professional accreditation of the ****** surveyors and valuers ************ board of Nigeria (ESUARBON). The department has the ************* of the Nigeria Board *** Technical Education (NBTE). The ********** presently parades reputable and noble lecturers by verifying ******** *** professional qualifications **** *** non-************* alike. The department has 17 permanent *** 2 part-time lecturers and 3 non-academic staff. The department has **** produced a ******* number of graduates/ ************* of **** repute in the country and abroad. 

1.2 OUR VISION STATEMENT

*** aim of the programme ** to equip the ******** **** skills in land resource management through detailed exposure to the problem of management of built and natural environments.

1.4 OBJECTIVES OF THE PROGRAMME 

The ********** of the programme include 

  1. To position the students to understand *** evolving contemporary real estate ********** techniques and ********* methodologies and the land use and administration approaches and their adaption to our national economy.
  2. ** prepare ******** ************ for a professional career.
  3. To train and develop appropriate ** ******* teaching and research in estate management in tertiary institutions.
  4. To ******* in students entrepreneurial skills and value for the possibility of self-employment in the profession
  5. To produce ********* who are ************* and scientifically current and competent to make ********* contributions towards national ******** development.
  6. To lay *** foundation on which the students can proceed to further studies in a *********** aspect of the estate ********* and valuation profession.

1.5  PROGRAMMES 

 *** department of estate management offers National Diploma (ND) and Higher National Diploma (HND).

  1. ENTRY REQUIREMENT

 PROSPECTIVE CANDIDATES DESIRING TO STUDY ESTATE MANAGEMENT ****** POSSESS:

  1. Five ‘O’ levels papers with credit passes which must ******* English language, mathematics *** economics, one basic science (physics, chemistry or biology) and any other ***** from geography, accounts/********** of account, fine arts, technical drawing, agriculture, history/ government, ********** in English, woodwork and metal work, ICT/**** processing/computer studies all obtained in not more than two sittings from SSCE, GCE, **** and or NECO. 
  2. **** credit passes in ******** subjects obtained at *** final examination ** an NBTE-recognized preliminary ND ********* ******* ** the *********** ** similar post-secondary technical institution on the foundation ** five passes relevant to the programme.

  2. A minimum of lower credit pass (CGPA of 2.5 ** 2.00- 2.49) in the ND examination that had two or **** years of cognate experience in the specific field may be considered for ********* into the HND program.

Mrs. BOSE OSISIENEMO OKEREKE (Nee Tarfa) was born in Plateau State, where *** ******* her Primary School ********* at National Vetenary Research Institute ***** School Vom, Plateau State and thereafter went to ***** College Sharam, Plateau State, where *** obtained her SSCE OLevel in 1994. She gained admission into Kaduna Polytechnic, Kaduna ***** in 1995 to ***** Estate Management and graduated with an Upper ****** HND in Estate Management. By 2002, she *** concluded her NYSC with Afri Bank Abuja, where she served in the Estate Department.

In 2010, Bose Okereke passed the qualifying exams of the Nigeria Institution of Estate ********** *** Valuers. In 2012 *** 2018, she obtained a PGD in Education and also Estate Management from the Imo State University, Owerri.
