BIOGRAPHY

Nnaoma Ikenna Elvis was born on 9th May 1984 at Owerri in Imo State. He is a native of Ubogwu in Awo-omamma, Oru East LGA of Imo State. He is married and blessed with three children. He was employed in the year 2015 and rose to the current rank of Lecturer 11(2018). He is currently a PhD student of University of Nigeria Nsukka in the Department of Pharmaceutical and Medicinal Chemistry (In view) with research area in Isolation and Characterization of bioactive compounds from Natural products and their bioassay. He obtained his MSc Pharmaceutical Formulation Science (2010) from University of Greenwich, England with research area on Synthetic chemistry and Characterization. His BSc Degree was in Pure & Industrial Chemistry (2007), from Nnamdi Azikiwe University Awka, Anambra State. West African Certificate Examination (2002) and First School Leaving Certificate (1995) were obtained from Uchenna Secondary School Awo-omamma and New Lay-out primary School, Mgbidi both in Imo state respectively. He is a member of the following Professional Bodies; Chemical Society of Nigeria and Nigeria Society of Biochemistry and Molecular. He has published 2 books, many research articles in peer review journals, and conferences.

3. BRIEF HISTORY OF THE DEPARTMENT

The Department of Pharmaceutical Technology came into existence after a successful resource accreditation by NBTE in 2014. It is housed in the School of Industrial and Applied Sciences. The programme started with about 240 students in ND1. The Department was headed by Dr. (Mrs.) Unegbu C.C as the pioneer HOD. The current HOD now is Nnaoma Ikenna Elvis. The department was given interim accreditation to start up the HND programme which has commenced with her first set 2017/2018 academic session. The Department has graduated four (4) sets in National Diploma (ND); 2014/2015, 2015/2016, 2016/2017, 2017/2018 and her first HND graduate in the year 2019.
