FEDPOLYNEK Clears Backlog of Over 50,000 Unmobilized Students

When Dr. Mrs. Basilia Igbokwe became the new Rector of Federal Polytechnic Nekede (Fedpolynek) just four months ago, she faced a major problem: over 50,000 graduates were stuck in limbo, waiting to join the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) due to delays in their enrollment. This issue had caused frustration for students and parents alike, so Dr. Igbokwe made fixing it a top priority.

During a recent meeting with student leaders from NANS, the Rector brought in Mr. Victor Eluchukwu, a key member of the admissions team, to explain the progress. Mr. Eluchukwu shared good news: technical issues blocking student data from being sent to the national education database (JAMB) had finally been resolved. “We’ve cleared 80% of the backlog, and those students are now being enrolled for NYSC,” he said. “The remaining 20% will be sorted out very soon.” He praised Dr. Igbokwe for her hands-on leadership in tackling the problem.

Dr. Igbokwe didn’t sugarcoat the effort it took. She revealed that her team had to manually re-upload records for all 50,000+ students—a tedious process—and that she’d made multiple urgent trips to Abuja to work directly with JAMB and NYSC officials. “Our graduates are finally moving forward,” she told the students proudly. “This is just the beginning of fixing long-standing issues.”

She also asked for everyone’s support in rebuilding Fedpolynek’s reputation, saying, “We’re working hard to make this institution one of Nigeria’s best. But we need students, staff, and the community to work with us. Together, we can create a school that works smoothly for everyone.”
