NIGERIAN INDEPENDENCE DAY CELEBRATION:
MESSAGE OF FELICITATIONS TO THE STAFF AND STUDENTS OF FEDERAL POLYTECHNIC, NEKEDE OWERRI- PRESENTED BY THE RECTOR OF THE FEDERAL POLYTECHNIC, NEKEDE OWERRI- DR. BASILIA IGBOKWE,
THIS DAY TUESDAY, 1ST OCTOBER, 2024.

Dear esteemed Staff and Students of Federal Polytechnic, Nekede Owerri, As we celebrate Nigeria’s 64th Independence Day on October 1st, 2024, I extend my warmest felicitations to you all. Today marks a significant milestone in our Nation’s history, a day to reflect on the values that have brought us this for – unity, resilience, and determination.

As your new Rector, I am committed to fostering a harmonious relationship among academic and non-academic staff, student unions, and the polytechnic community. My vision is to rekindle the dwindling spirit of hard work, commitment, and dedication that has defined our institution.
To achieve this, I would like to reiterate my 11-Point Agenda:

  • Improving Academic Environment: Enhancing facilities and resources
  • Boosting Internally Generated Revenue (IGR): Reviving tissue and table water production, expanding fishery and poultry projects
  • Reliable Electricity: Linking to the national power grid
  • Reviving Smart Campus (Digital Learning) Policy: Enhancing online resources, e-library, and digital infrastructure
  • Improved Staff and Students Welfare: Enhancing healthcare, sports facilities, and social services
  • Enhancing Staff and Students Discipline: Fostering a culture of responsibility, accountability, and excellence
  • Improving Corporate Social Responsibility: Strengthening our partnership with the host community through vocational training, health services, and infrastructure development

I urge each and every one of you to join me in this quest to revitalize our polytechnic. Together, we can restore our institution’s glory and position it as the most sought-after polytechnic in Nigeria. We have the potential, and with collective effort, we can achieve greatness.
Thank you, and happy Independence Day,

Dr. Basilia N. lgbokwe
Rector
