The Rector, Dr Mrs Igbokwe Reaffirms Commitment to Host Community, Umudibia, During Courtesy Visit
The Rector of Federal Polytechnic Nekede, Owerri, Dr. Basilia Igbokwe, has reaffirmed her commitment to fostering a harmonious relationship with the host community, Umudibia, during a courtesy visit to the Traditional Ruler, Eze Godwin Merenini (Dibia I), on October 8, 2024. Accompanied by her principal officers, Dr. Igbokwe emphasized her dedication to improving the lives of community members through Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives.
During the visit, Dr. Igbokwe assured the community of her intention to uphold her promises, with a focus on engaging the youth, women, and men of the community. She also announced the appointment of Mr. Napoleon Onuoha and Engr. Duke Ugwuegbulam as coordinators to ensure seamless collaboration between the polytechnic and the community.
Eze Godwin Merenini praised Dr. Igbokwe’s leadership, expressing confidence in her ability to deliver on her vision for the institution and the community. He also encouraged her to focus on key issues like school fee reductions, welfare, security, and accountability.
The visit also included prayers and goodwill messages from community leaders, including the President General of the men’s and women’s wings, Rev. Dr. Jezzy Oziri and Lady Ijeoma Onyenobi, who emphasized the importance of security at the polytechnic. The women’s wing further honored Dr. Igbokwe by christening her “Umudibia Daughter of Grace.”
The event concluded with the youth leader, Hon. Kalu Onyekachi, pledging continued support for the Rector’s initiatives aimed at fostering development and strengthening ties between the institution and the community.
