The adage that says “Federal Polytechnic leads while others follow if they can” has come to fulfillment as the Department of Estate Management in Federal Polytechnic achieved a milestone by becoming the first department in the school as well as the whole country to build a state of art 5 room office complex through its Estate Management Graduate Association. The office complex which has been completed will house the Head of Department and staff, it also have a mini library. The Head of the Department said that through the graduate association they have to think what they will do to help the school as the present management has done much in infrastructural and manpower development.
Hence, they have to contribute their own quota in the development of the department. The head of Department thanked the Estate Management president and the management for their help in achieving this feat. In his speech, the president Estate Surveyor of Nigeria, Esv. Dr. B. J. Patunda Ajayi praised the department for their great stride. He said he has to leave his tight schedule to be a witness and part of the epoch event. Dr. Ajayi said that throughout Nigeria, Federal Polytechnic, he has never heard or seen any department building an office complex for the school. He said that he is happy that such feat is happening in his own time. He thanked the school management for encouraging and providing logistics for the execution of the project.
Dr. Ajayi thanked the polytechnic for their hospitality and accommodating nature. He promised that the organization is ready to support the school through character of books and materials, manpower training etc. The Estate Management Graduate Association who funded the project through their president, Chief Sir K.C said that they decided to build ultral-modern complex as part of their corporate social responsibility, and also the love they have for the alma mata and the department that made them whom they are. Chief K.C said that this is the first phase of the plan to make the department the best in school. He promised that they will do more as this is the beginning of what they want to do for their department. The Rector of the institution, Dr. (Mrs.) Cele Njoku said that this is the first of its kind in the school and challenge other department to emulate Estate Management department. She said that the department has been wonderful in the carnival/founders day celebration. She said that the action of Estate student graduate association will never be forgotten and thanked them for remembering their alma mata.
