The Governing Council is the supreme policy-making body of the Institution. It is headed by the Chairman. The Chairman and members of the Council are appointed and removed by the President and Commander-In-Chief of the Armed Forces of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. The Chairman of the Council takes precedence over all members of the Polytechnic and, when present, presides over all meetings of the Convocation and Council.
Functions of the Council Include:
i. Overseeing the affairs of the Institution and, in particular, of the property and finances.
ii. Carrying out activities which in its opinion will facilitate the realization of the goals and objectives of the Institution.
iii. Making rules, policies or guidelines regulating the constitution and conduct of the Polytechnic and regulating any authority or matter connected with it.
iv. Preparing and presenting to the Government periodic reports on the activities of the Institution.
